Meyer’s work uses the function of ornament to celebrate the civic icon and curated activity at Geelong After-dark 2018.
The superimposed, shifting digital ornament and abstract treatments of light reveal the array of spatial conditions within the architectural permanence of the historical town hall structure. With the shape-shifting ability of projection mapping, the work explores the concept of architectural ornament to transcend the civic spectacle and shift our focus to current issues. Following on from the success of a new approach in 2017: An organic discovery process led by Meyer with contributions from motion design Studio Qualia and sound composer D-rek spawned a light show in two distinct parts:
- A purely entertainment focussed sound light piece creates relief for
- an exercise in visual communication design which is custom mapped to the unique architectural façade.
