Anne Scott Wilson and Ars Electronica Australia collaborated on the artistic interface that connects the physical with the digital at GAD2019.  

Accompanying the Beehive in the City Hall Foyer is a live performance and installation that invites the public to participate and reflect their city, their voice and their perception.

"Beehive" (Bienenstock) is an ongoing artistic research experiment developed by Ars Electronica for collecting and contextualising video content from the activity of people. In the broadest sense it is a cross-media platform for crowd sourced video documentation. Beehive serves as a metaphor: like a society of bees, registered participants swarm out, capture  footage of a happening from a multitude of perspectives and then enter into the collective hive.

Performance every half hour from 6:30 in the City Hall Foyer.

Impromptunes will bring Geelong to life - in song. Suggest your title and have a comedy song or mini musical made up for you - on the spot! You'll be wowed as the Impromptunes team entertain you with music full of hijinks, harmonies and hilarity.

A tiny box theatre with a show performed just for you; an enchanted bookshelf reveals a tiny world hidden behind its volumes where magic, nostalgia and the will of one tiny person weave a story of infinite proportions.

A reimagining of the Rhine Experiment to test for extra sensory perception in Geelong subjects. Using two arrays of lightboxes marked with Zener's symbols for transmission and reception, Retail Cargo Cult parapsychologists (with Kneebone Press) will investigate the paranormal in a scientifically and artistically rigorous method that excludes sensory leakage.

Using kinetic sculpture, AI and machine learning from biological and movement data gathered in real time, this project explores the idea of a parallel universe within the everyday. ‘If you stay where you are, you'll run into yourself’ is a quantum provocation that inspires how I use materials.

'Scent of the Night' is a sensual journey through the lane-ways of the city that takes you inside the minds of two young people from culturally diverse backgrounds looking for love in Geelong. An interactive, promenade theatre experience performed by emerging artists telling authentic local stories from a fresh perspective.

The soundscape that we make is like a mountain being made. It is for the audience to imagine what’s happening in the performance, without seeing it. It is a journey into people’s dreams through sound and imagery and voices. We make the mountains rise.

Dive into the underwater world of acrobatic divers, take your photo with a mermaid, gaze up at stilt-walking sea creatures. Be sure to stop by our delicious deserts bar and indulge while you traverse our deep sea themed night, plus (when the bends kick in) expresso martinis for the grown-ups!

See a brilliant array of catch-your-breath, acrobatics, juggling and, slapstick comedy with the Splash Test Dummies only Geelong performance get ready for some splish-splashing circus fun set to drown you in tears of laughter! Ready to roll out their beach towels and spring into 20 minutes of circus-filled hilarity for the whole family.

What appear to be two ordinary Lampposts sit opposite each other until you pass by. They begin to speak, they love getting involved in other people’s lives and have opinions on everything. Get up close and personal, Lampposts want to experience your affection – even inanimate objects have feelings you know!

Now You See Me: A Guerrilla Art and Drama Collaborative will be a student-led exhibition. More than two-dozen Year 9 students from Christian College Geelong (Bellarine Campus) will create an interactive space to showcase both installation and performance-based artwork. Students will explore sight, hearing and touch, with the audience involved.

CHYA will immerse visitors in a cacophony of auditory and graphic imaginings as art fills each corner of the building. Prepare for a sensory overload as waves of dissonant jazz intermingle with the harmonic tones of a Gospel choir and interludes by the rhythmic meter of spoken-word. Some yell, some whisper, some beg for spectators while others revel in their separation.

Nuku>_ evokes the retro charm of early text-based video games, but reimagined as a live theatre experience. Using puppetry and a clever mashup of old and new technology, a vacant shop becomes the play-space for quirky girl Nuku, her actions and adventures only limited by the audience’s imagination.

The Urban Oasis will offer a multi-sensory immersive experience which features a projected visual feast for the eyes, enhanced by sound, calming scent and tactile textures. The visitor will be guided from a hot, dry, city-scape to a lush, calm space. A poetic alignment with Revitalising Central Geelong’s vision.

You can kick back in the pop-up bar & café, groove to the tunes or gaze upon the animated light paintings by the Little Project Co., inspired by another Gallery exhibition, Bauhaus Centenary – Ludwig Hirschelf Mack.
