Write Acts presents original and classical readings by a panel of readers; spoken word including poetry, beat poetry, prose and performance writing inspired by the event theme The Sound of Light.

A 30min show repeated each hour.

Spoken word artist Nicole McKenzie explores the sound of light through performance poetry. Is grief blaring ambulance lights or a barely there dull blue globe? Is love fairy lights jumping or the only street light in a deserted town?

Nicole uses light as a tool, a metaphor, an explanation.

Or as they rehearse together on a rainy Tuesday night in their local community hall. You know the feeling. Playing in a band, singing and making music with others is something special. Hearing the rhythm drift down the street always increases your heartbeat. And playing at a street band festival is simply thrilling!

Harpist Christine Middleton plays her own composition on a beautiful glowing gothic harp. Be prepared to travel on a meditative journey through sound and light.

Live sound-scape construction, contemporary dance and light manipulation meet in Andy and Luigi’s multifaceted work, which seeks to bring to light the flux between the contemporary and the everyday, whilst exploring the interconnectivity of sound and movement.

An intriguing and evocative immersion in sound and imagery celebrating and honouring our interconnectedness with Earth. Featuring the unique sound of Sandy Dickinson’s Handpan, Stephen Oakes’ Indian Harmonium and Lisa Singline’s sublime vocals – the “sound of earth and light” performance by Aïr-thereal draws inspiration from the natural world.

Steve Thew is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from Geelong in Victoria Australia. With his versatile vocal range and masterful skill on the acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica and piano. Steve is a true blue Aussie entertainer, capable of capturing the hearts and minds of his audience in a way that only a truly humble and seasoned performer can.
